trailer looks good. i like rob marshall. and because it's an english-language film, i'm willing to forgive the casting of mostly chinese actors. but.

there are so many things wrong with that i can't even tell you. zhang ziyi is beautiful but she doesn't look remotely japanese, and the way they're wearing the kimono is strange. my coworkers say it looks like a trailer for 007. guess it's appropriate that the movie adaptation should be like this, given that the author was sued by the geisha he interviewed for factual errors in his book and for breaking promises he made to her in exchange for the interviews she granted. it's a lovely western film based on a lovely western book about those exotic and beautiful orientals. but they shot on location in kyoto, so i'll probably go see it. (sigh)
