blue xmas

helped my friends in east hampton set up their tree this weekend..

merry xmas

i'm making small booklets of my cartoons as xmas presents this year. if you'd like a booklet, send me your address. i am of course assuming i won't be bombarded by requests, but i'd like to get as many copies out there as possible. they look so much better in full resolution :) oh and if you know any publishers, send 'em their way too ha ha.

my new idol

is zefrank. not only is he a programming and design genius, he is a brilliant performer, musician, and maker of short films. and he lives like down the street from me. damn you zefrank for being straight. be sure to play the games 'christian,' 'buddhist,' and 'athiest,' and watch the films 'cause,' 'red alert,' and 'request.' brilliant. i love him. i'm going to start stalking him.

i discovered 'garage band' last night. i don't know why i hadn't played with it earlier - i've had my new computer for months now. i guess i assumed there wouldn't be much i could do with it without a midi keyboard. wrong wrong wrong. was up late last night in an orgiastic creative outburst. could have stayed up all night playing with the thing. it doesn't even sound half bad just using the tiny tiny microphone, literally the size of a pinhead, in my powerbook. but for it to be really great i just need a cable to hook up my keyboard and an external mike. it's very exciting to start writing music again. will post songs as they are completed..

runway

rrgh, missed my newest obsession - project runway. loved the first episode in which designer's creativity is pitched against each other.. much more interesting than the judging criteria on the modeling shows where final photo seem to be chosen arbitrarily, and judgement of the models really seems to amount to more of a judgement of the photographer. here, the model is secondary to the clothes, and just like good acting can help good writing, but can never save it - here the models assist in pulling off the clothes, but ultimately, it's the skill of the designers that makes or breaks the parade.

it would be interesting to do a similar program pitting photographers against each other - and they would all have to shoot the same model..

anyway, toss in your requisite stock reality characters, make most of them gay men, and you have a very fun show.

thank god daniel was trashed in the first episode, right along with his trash bag dress. i wonder if he watched the first episode and thought 'oh my god.. i'm so pretentios, i had no idea!' or if he thought 'those fuckers edited me to look bad!' he can start a club with omarosa and that psycho chick from 'action hero.' at least the producers were kind enough not to spare him for the sake of the inevitable drama he could bring.

also saw 'dogville' this week. have you seen it? you have to. some people hate it. i loved it.

hoax!

ah well, it was still good for a laugh. i'm usually so good at sniffing these things out. very nice photoshop job, btw.

i'm floored

gotta love louisiana.

50 years from now

check out the 1954 popular mechanics vision of the future my dad sent me.

it has a steering wheel. apparently, we're supposed to be able to drive our houses now using the simple fortran language. or maybe it's to scroll through your mp3s.

kind of puts our own perspectives of the future in check. those scientists would shit to know that i looked at that picture on wireless highspeed internet on a 5lb back lit flat screen battery powered powerbook while lounging on the couch.

if anything it proves that technology moves at a faster rate than we can imagine. 50 years is an eternity. i'm sure in 50 years i'll be able to download my conscience into a synthetic body and live eternally in the interverse, powered by the simple fortran language.
